Otyokwah Camp and Retreat Center, New Dining Facility
Otyokwah Camp and Retreat Center, located outside Butler, Ohio, is a dynamic center providing innovative services and opportunities for the evangelism, fellowship, education and nurturing of people of all ages. Tragically, the Camp lost its century-old meeting/dining hall, a three-story barn, in a fire. Despite the loss, the Church of God camp, founded in 1947, has been rallying around plans for a 10,000 square foot dining facility complete with a dining hall seating 260, restaurant-style kitchen and two meeting rooms with seating capacity for 80 people each. The Camp’s office and nurse’s room will also be housed in the facility. The new building will be constructed at the front of the Camp, atop a hill amid towering pine trees and will replace the barn as the Camp's new “signature building." The estimated cost for the construction is between $1.5 million and $2 million. In August, 2006, Camp Otyokwah held a ground-breaking ceremony with approximately 100 people in attendance from all around Ohio. The construction is currently scheduled to start mid-September and be completed in time for the start of Camp season next year. Camp Otyokwah |
